Chip Gaines is larger than life on the show Fixer Upper. In Capital Gaines, Chip shares his views on life, success, and failure in true Chip style with humor and honesty.

I’m a big fan of the show Fixer Upper and the Gaines family. Their family and faith are the most important thing in their lives. They are hard workers, but they also know how to enjoy family time. The Magnolia Story was a beautiful book about Chip and Joanna Gaines. In Capital Gaines, Chip dives more into his story in relation to life and work. Of course, Joanna is part of that story, but this really is focused more on Chip.

Chip’s story telling is filled with humor and fun. He tells the tales of both his successes and failures. He goes on to explain how his failures and his personal approach to life helped him become the business man he is today. He also talks about how the Lord and family play a big roll in his life and business. He couldn’t be where he is today without a solid foundation on which to grow.

It was really interesting to see how his approach and Joanna’s approach vary greatly. Yet, they’ve found a way to make it all work. I appreciate the honesty and transparency in the book.

Book Description:

The funny and talented Chip Gaines is well known to millions of people as a TV star, renovation expert, bestselling author, husband to Joanna, and father of five in Waco, Texas. But long before the world took notice, Chip was a serial entrepreneur who was always ready for the next challenge, even if it didn’t quite work out as planned. Whether it was buying a neighborhood laundromat or talking a bank into a loan for some equipment to start a lawn-mowing service, Chip always knew that the most important thing was to take that first step.

About the Author:

Chip was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He graduated from Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business with a degree in marketing. An entrepreneur by nature, he started and sold many small businesses before Magnolia. Having grown up spending time on his granddad’s ranch in North Texas, Chip became a true cowboy at heart. He says he was made for hard labor and always preferred digging ditches to academic pursuits.

Chip loves life with his five kiddos and is head over heels for Joanna. Hand in hand is exactly how Chip prefers to work, which makes Fixer Upper even more fun to watch, and he enjoys seeing his and Joanna’s passions merge to complement and serve one another.
