Azzan “Lygos” “Aladdin” Yasir is not the same person he once was, but he fears that one day his past will catch up to him and be deadly for anyone in his life.
When Azzan is recruited by fellow Nightshade team member Canyon Metcalf to help with security at his brother’s gubernational campaign even, he feels his past his finally catching up to him. Everly Sinclair is more than she seems with a dark secret that she carefully guards. While concealing who she really is, she tries to honor her dead grandfather by helping Stone Metcalfe get elected.
It’s nice to see the Nightshade team back together again. If you haven’t read the Discarded Heroes series, you really need to read the other books prior to diving into this novella. Lygos can be read independently, but you get a better understanding of all involved if you read the other books first.
Lygos is another hit-the-ground-running adventure from Ronie Kendig. My only complaint is the novella is too short. I would have loved the new installment in this series be a full-length book. That said, it was great to see Aladdin’s character have his own story. This new storyline is filled with action, suspense, and a little romance as we follow along with the latest Nightshade adventure on American soil.
Book Description:
This Christmas, Azzan’s past takes aim at those he loves. Once nicknamed “Aladdin” by the Nightshade team, Azzan Yasir has found camaraderie–and a new callsign: LYGOS–in his six years with the Nightshade team. When Canyon Metcalfe recruits him to run security for his brother’s gubernatorial campaign, Azzan discovers how quickly long-buried secrets can devastate the best-laid plans. Campaign manager Everly Sinclair has hidden from the limelight since her grandfather’s death. Assuming a nom de plume, she is out to prove her mettle in the contentious world of politics by launching her first candidate during a pre-Christmas event at an exclusive lodge in the mountains. When Everly receives a mysterious envelope, she’s convinced the person who killed her grandfather now has her in his sights. But Azzan is convinced the killer is after him to settle an old score.
